A treat for the birds

The Cotoneaster in the garden is beginning to spread and the red berries will be a welcome treat for garden birds as winter draws in. But many types of Cotoneaster available in Garden Centres are actually invasive and are now prohibited from being planted in the British Countyside. To help the birds feed on berries in winter, better alternatives include holly, hawthorn and honeysuckle.
